Be inspired in a community that unites academic challenge, kindness, and personal growth. We believe that academic excellence stems from the interaction among a challenging program that requires students to be active learners; support by exceptional faculty; and a kind community. Our students are empowered to achieve their personal best. Transformative relationships with students are informed by faculty trained in the research of child and adolescent development, connecting emerging insights from cognitive science and educational best practices to inform King’s approach to teaching and learning.
King faculty appreciate that when students feel known and understood, they are much more likely to engage and direct - and even find joy in - the learning process. Teachers want students successfully to demonstrate what they learned and to measure this new learning against their personal goals.
Underpinning teachers’ deep understanding of each student is a comprehensive student learning profile, introduced in PreK and developed through senior year. This proprietary database captures learning strengths, challenges, and goals, and provides a window into a student’s social and emotional development. These profiles, which incorporate parent input, thoughtfully support the guided development of core 21st century skills such as collaboration, communication, and personal responsibility.
King’s approach to teaching and learning takes many forms. The best way to learn more is to schedule a visit. Grade 6 - Grade 11 Open House on October 14. PreK - Grade 5 Open House on November 4. To register visit: www.kingschoolt.org/openhouse
