The Fatima Difference: Personalized Learning and a Nurturing Environment Based on Faith, Knowledge and Respect
Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School-Wilton is a co-educational, National Blue Ribbon School offering a Pre-Kindergarten 3 through Grade 8 education model. The school is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and State of CT.
Fatima’s faith-based environment nurtures the whole child and emphasizes strong moral values and respect for self and others, fostering a kinder and gentler learning atmosphere so kids can be kids a little longer.
Beginning in fall 2018, the school will launch a Personalized Approach to Learning. Fatima will offer traditional classroom learning blended with the latest technology including hardware and student devices, infrastructure, and programming to provide personalized learning for each student. Personalized Learning allows students to learn in an environment that taps their unique needs and strengths in order to engage, inspire and empower them to reach their highest potential. Technology will be one of several tools to enhance curriculum and encourage student creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and communication. Another tool, the “station-rotation” model, will incorporate teacher directed instruction to small groups based on a student’s needs and student collaboration on a teacher assigned project to create and communicate mastery of skills and knowledge. In addition, Fatima will continue to offer its STEM curriculum focus. Small Class sizes in the elementary and middle school grades coupled with a Personalized Approach to Learning will allow Fatima students to continue to achieve excellence beyond standardized testing norms.
The Pre-Kindergarten Program, the entry point of the school, offers a choice of either five full-days or five half-days and prepares children by providing academic readiness, structure and socialization experiences.
National Junior Honor Society recognition is achieved by most Grade 7 and Grade 8 students each year. Fatima graduates consistently achieve honors recognition and scholarships at area public, parochial and private high schools.
A hallmark of the school is the emphasis on “Service above Self,” with projects and community events scheduled throughout the year. Extra-curricular activities offered include cross-country, field hockey and basketball programs, after-school band, school plays, music performances, and special interest clubs.
Parents benefit from a vibrant family community, early morning drop-off and a flexible after-school program available for all grades.
