The Summer Enrichment Program at WPS is an extension of the WPS philosophy, principles and model that takes place during the summer months. It provides students with the unique opportunity to participate in an individually designed program aimed to enhance academic skills and foster independence.
The strength of the Summer Enrichment Program has always been the individualized education for each student. Classes do not exceed eight pupils per class, with most classes averaging four students per class. There is also a very high teacher-to-student ratio during the summer.
Students, from grades 4-12, from private, public, mainstream and special education settings come to WPS seeking to improve their academic skills.
The July Morning Academic Program The Summer Enrichment Program takes place Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. during the month of July. Students are grouped according to skill level and learning style in small classes of no more than eight students. Additionally, each student receives daily one-on-one instruction targeting areas of greatest need within Winston’s Focus program. The program is designed to develop language, encoding/decoding, reading comprehension, writing, math, test preparation, organization and time management skills at each student’s appropriate level of interest.
