Mooreland Hill School is an independent, coeducational day school serving central Connecticut students in Kindergarten –Grade 9. Since its founding in 1930, Mooreland Hill offers students a challenging, integrated curriculum, small class size, a strong advisory system and extensive co-curricular and extracurricular opportunities. Ours is a diverse and vibrant learning community that takes pride in offering a balanced education for its students.
In the classroom, our teachers encourage students to become active learners, acquiring knowledge and mastering the skills necessary to think critically, write effectively, collaborate with others and creatively solve problems. Beyond the classroom, students participate in a wide array of activities that provide opportunities to sharpen skills, explore new interests and develop new talents.
Mooreland has a comprehensive curriculum in art, music and drama. The art program includes art history, design, drawing, painting, ceramics and sculpture. The choral music program is performance-based with additional opportunities for students to engage in the elective ensemble group. An all-school major musical production takes place in the fall.
Athletics are an integral part of the Upper Grade Mooreland Hill educational experience. The program includes competitive interscholastic team sports and some non-competitive activities. Mooreland’s outdoor education program provides opportunities for personal growth in support of the mission of the school beyond the traditional confines of the classroom. This hands-on education program allows students to articulate and strengthen for themselves qualities of character, responsibilities of citizenship, ideals of philosophical and practical leadership, notions of responsible stewardship of the environment, and sound decision-making skills.
Mooreland Hill School combines purposeful, joyful, and expansive learning with 21st century skills in a small class setting. Our students develop the character and confidence to advance as community minded learners and leaders. We invite you to join us.
