The Foote School nurtures a lifelong love of learning and teaching, and fosters a commitment to excellence in its students and faculty. Teachers lead students to ask questions and discover connections; to think and work independently, collaboratively and creatively; and to learn by doing. At Foote, learning is an active experience for students and teachers that balances innovation, tradition and reflection. Families come to Foote from many different backgrounds and schools, creating a diverse community that enriches us all. Dedicated, highly qualified faculty and staff create a happy, productive atmosphere where students flourish in small classes with individual attention.

The Campus
The 18-acre campus features 11 classroom buildings, a 48,000-volume library, science and technology labs, a black-box theater, music rooms, art studios, a gymnasium, playing fields, teaching gardens, mud kitchen, a wooded area for outdoor education, and a state-of-the-art science and technology building. Students benefit from our central location in New Haven, which presents off-campus learning opportunities from museum visits to service learning projects.

The Curriculum
Teachers provide a strong academic foundation while nurturing creativity and self-confidence. Students explore a wide-ranging, imaginative curriculum in literature, history, mathematics, science, technology and writing. Every grade participates in Chinese or Spanish, as well as drama, music and art. Daily physical activity is provided through recess, gym and after-school sports. We value critical thinking and hands-on learning and foster close relationships among teachers, students and parents. Foote’s strong academic program and globally inspired curriculum are designed to help students embrace diversity and actively seek opportunities to serve and lead.
