Camp Clio and our New Camp Clio Teen offer a unique experience for adopted children and teens. Our model is the same for both programs, youth (9-12) and Teen (13-16 – girls only). Camp Clio campers share a cabin with only other adopted campers and counselors (themselves adopted) who serve as role models. We share all camp activities and meals with the campers attending our host camps, Camp Claire (CC) and Middlesex County Camp (MCC). During free time, evening time, siesta and cabin group activities the Clio adopted campers are free to share their feelings, experiences and adoption stories in a safe, non-judgmental environment with others who understand adoption without explanation because they are “just like me”. Campers join in interactive, creative activities that encourage conversation and exploration of identity, family connectedness, and curiosity about birth families, and begin to understand that their complicated feelings are perfectly normal. Counselors learn to facilitate conversation about adoption and guide it in a positive direction from Licensed Adoption Specialists during counselor training week. Camp Clio Teen is July 1-6 and July 8-13 at MCC. Camp Clio youth is July 1-21 at CC. Campers may attend 1 or more sessions at both camps. There is weekend accommodation for out-of-state campers only. All-Day camper (8:00AM- 8:30PM) option at the Youth camp only. Scholarships are available based on need. Visit CampClio.org or call 212-472-5207 for more information.
