Westport Library to Host Panel on Opioid Addiction
Panel to Bring Together Experts from Westport Weston Health District, Human Services, Shatterproof and Positive Directions
The Westport Library will host a panel discussion on opioid addiction featuring experts in the field on Thursday, October 19 from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Library’s Large Reading Room. The discussion will be moderated by Director of Community Health for the Westport Weston Health District Monica K. Wheeler, MSN, RN. The panelists are Elaine Daignault, Director of Human Services for the Town of Westport, Denique Weidema-Lewis, Director of Prevention at Positive Directions and Founder and CEO of Shatterproof Gary Mendell.
Shatterproof is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the devastation that addiction causes families. Under the leadership Mendell, who lost his son to addiction, Shatterproof has helped 14 states pass life-saving legislation and has, through its Ambassador program, empowered those impacted by addiction to share their stories to affect social and policy change.
The panel is being sponsored by Cohen & Wolf. The event is free and open to the public and no pre-registration is required.
